SYSCAL Junior Resistivity Meter, depths to 100m |
Syscal Junior resistivity meter for ground water exploration and contaminant studies, grounding measurements, and geologic mapping. |
Features
- Unique 2 channel design measures both voltage and current simultaneously
- Maximum voltage 800 V Peak to Peak
- Maximum output current 1.2 A
- Compatible with automated electrode switching system
- 20 Bit A/D converter
- Chargeability / IP Measurements
General
The Syscal Junior resistivity meter is an ideal instrument for applications with depths of investigation in the range of 100 meters or less. The 100W transmitting power is quite adequate at these depths and the light weight of the Junior resistivity meters, only 7 kg with internal battery, makes easy work of moving along your profile. The combined transmitter/receiver unit is micro processor based and features a large, easy to read LCD display.
Measurement is fully automatic. Pressing the Start/Stop key to initiate a measurement will first cause the SP value to be measured and then stored. The Junior will then display the average values of voltage and current, with standard deviation, until the stop key is pressed. If the operator has selected the appropriate electrode array and spacing parameters the apparent resistivity value is calculated. Memory storage for 1000 sets of readings with all related parameters is provided.
The SP value is displayed so that noisy conditions may be observed. SP compensation is recalculated during stacking with every third stack, providing excellent linear drift correction. Automatic ranging during digital stacking improves noise reduction. A 20 bit A/D converter is used to provide the best resolution and highest quality data.
Power is supplied from internal rechargeable battery, or external 12V. The battery charger is external and may be switched between 110 or 220V. Typical operation time on the fully charged internal battery is greater than 3,000 cycles. Data transfer is provided by standard RS232 port.
The unique two channel design of the syscal resistivity meters, allows for measurement of both voltage and current during stacking. This provides the most optimized design to ensure the best data quality and noise rejection. Noise rejection is greater than 120 dB at power line frequencies. Voltage resolution after stacking is 1 microvolt, with accuracy of better than 0.5%.

SYSCAL R1 Plus Resistivity Meter, depths to 200m |
Syscal R1 Plus Resistivity Meter for deep ground water exploration, geologic mapping, IP surveys, grounding studies. Now with 200W of Power.
|
Features:
- Measures voltage & current simultaneously
- 200 W new Output Power
- 1200 V Peak to Peak
- 2.5 A Maximum Current
- Automated Electrode Switching System Available
- 20 Bit A/D Converter
- Chargeability / IP Measurements
General:
The Syscal R1 Plus resistivity meter is the most powerful, internally powered, transmitter/receiver unit available for DC resistivity applications. It features 200W output and may be powered from internal rechargeable battery, or external 12 V. Surveys to depths of 200 meters can be achieved with confidence.
The unique two channel design of the Syscal resistivity meters permits measurement of voltage and current simultaneously. This results in an instrument with very high accuracy and freedom from noise. Noise rejection is better than 120 db at power line frequencies. A 20 bit A/D converter provides excellent resolution and data quality.
The large, high contrast, LCD screen, with large keypad, allow the R1 to be used easily in field conditions. The case is fully watertight, with the only access through the top keypad, which is protected by O ring seals.
At the start of each measurement the SP value is displayed. This value is also stored with each reading. SP compensation is automatic, with linear drift correction, using digital filtering. The SP value is measured during stacking with every third stack, and his new value is then used for applying the SP correction. This results in very accurate correction of the SP drift reading.
Automatic ranging during digital stacking improves noise reduction. Up to 250 stacks may be done per measurement. During stacking a running average of voltage and current permits the operator to observe data quality. Standard deviation for each measurement is stored with the reading.
With input of type of array, and geometrical electrode spacing values, the R1 will calculate and store the apparent resistivity. Up to 1,000 measurements are stored, with voltage, current, resistivity, geometrical parameters, and a station number. Data transfer is provided by serial link.
Power is supplied from internal rechargeable battery, or external 12 V. The battery charger is external, and compatible with either 110 or 220 V. Typical field operation time from the internal battery is more than 3,000 readings.
The Syscal R1 Plus resistivity meter is compatible with the automated electrode switching unit called the Intelligent Node System. With this system the operator can design the array and sampling routine desired, then download this to the R1 for execution in the field. Up to ten arrays may be preprogrammed and downloaded to the R1. In the field these are recalled, and minor adjustments may be made, such as number of stacks. Each array may be run for whatever number of profiles are needed, up to the capacity of the memory storage. Back in the office, files are uploaded, and results are automatically displayed. Multiple profiles may be merged to create the final color pseudosection.
The Syscal R1 Plus resistivity meters are unmatched in power output, and unmatched in data quality, thanks to its unique two channel design. This design, which permits the simultaneous measurement of both voltage and current, allows accurate readings to be made, even in noisy conditions. Be sure to specify this two channel design when you want the best data available.
For compatible modeling software see the Resix Plus package.

The Syscal Pro features a console that measures ten adjacent dipoles simultaneously. This allows data collection at a rate up to ten times that of conventional single channel systems. Standard transmitting power is 1,000V(2,000V peak to peak), with a maximum 2.5A yielding a 250W design limit. Optionally the system may be powered with either a booster supplying 1,500V(3,000V peak to peak) at 2.5A, yielding a 500W system, or by a motor generator driven 1,200W converter.
The Pro features a graphics screen with display of the IP curve. Up to 20 IP windows may be selected either automatically or with user defined slices. GPS integration is standard allowing recording of the location of the meter, or when in continuous marine acquisition mode, allowing continuous position recording.
