If you are a geoscientist doing teaching or research, or just need an exploration seismograph to find bedrock, the ES-3000 is for you. The system includes ESOS data acquisition software and the ES-3000 seismodule connects directly to your PC via the Ethernet port no additional hardware or drivers are required.

The ES-3000 system comes with all the data analysis software you need to do comprehensive refraction surveys to find bedrock, the water table, where to rip, or even outline gravel deposits. Special multi-license pricing on the standalone version of SeisImager/2D is available so that field crews and students can have their own copies.

Geode, 24 channel/box, network ready - Ultra-Light Exploration Seismograph

A fully featured seismograph with state of the art electronics designed for use with a field notebook computer. This design allows the cost to be lowered as compared to conventional stand alone designs, weight is lighter, while retaining all the features of a top end system.

The new Geode seismic recorder is the next generation of seismic recording system, combining the best of traditional seismic recorders with the flexibility and convenience of a distributed system. Place a Geode module out on the line close to the geophones and eliminate long, expensive analog cables. Never hassle with poor connections and bad roll box contacts when doing a reflection survey. And when you are not using the Geode for exploring, use it for monitoring earthquakes, quarry blasts or vibration from heavy equipment.

For light-duty applications, you can use your laptop to view, record and process your data. For more demanding applications where ruggedness and reliability are key, use the Geode in combination with StrataVisor NZ series seismographs. The StrataVisor and laptop software have the same user interface, so transition between configurations is seamless.

SmartSeis SE Exploration Seismograph

The SmartSeis SE is a new generation seismograph that brings together the latest digital and computer technology to help you map the subsurface. The units can be configured with either 12 or 24 channels.

The SmartSeis can be used in a wide range of applications, including: depth-to-bedrock, rippability surveys, ground water hydrology, foundation investigations, landslide studies, hazardous waste mitigation, fault location, stratigraphy, gravel detection, mineral exploration, aquifer tracing, landfill delineation, coal seam mapping, shear wave velocities for site response, and surface wave analysis.

The user-friendly SmartSeis SE uses advanced data acquisition techniques so that high quality data is automatic. Built-in data processing gives preliminary answers right in the field. The SmartSeis has special circuitry that continuously looks at the seismic signal and adjusts the amplifier gains to the optimum setting. Many surveys can employ just a sledgehammer as the source and sum sequential impacts to increase effective depth penetration. Pick on-screen first arrivals with a full-sun visible 640x480 pixel liquid crystal display. Selectable real-time DIGITAL filters in the SmartSeis can eliminate interference produced from power lines, wind, and surface waves to significantly extend your depth range and reflection capabilities. A paper copy of the record can be produced using the built-in thermal plotter. The data is annotated with the acquisition parameters, line geometry, and even date and time for correlation with field notes.

General:

The StrataView is the first seismic recorder flexible enough to meet the changing needs of exploration, research and geotechnical studies - you may never need another seismic recorder! StrataViews are light and portable when you need to do a refraction job. StrataViews plug together easily to build larger systems for 2-D and 3-D reflection surveys with vibrators or impulsive sources. And the fast cycle times and wide bandwidth combine for the preferred choice for marine, VSP and tomography surveys.

The StrataView comes with the easiest-to-use software in the business. A menu bar and simple pull down windows let you quickly configure the system and start collecting data.

StrataView seismographs are carefully engineered to provide performance unmatched in other systems. After digital conversion of the geophone signals, data is streamed into digital signal processing chips (DSP's). These specialized CPU's perform low cut, high cut, notch filtering and correlation in a fraction of the time required by Pentium type processors. DSP chips run cool and use little power, extending the operating temperature of the StrataView beyond any similar system.

Refraction Surveys
StrataView software helps you pick first arrivals and plot travel time curves in the field. On screen layer assignment lets you process data while waiting for the next shot.

The StrataView software will even analyze your data and print out a seismic cross section while still on site.

Reflection Surveys
Use the StrataView for shallow high resolution reflection surveys, deep petroleum studies using explosives - even 3-D vibrator surveys. Turnkey systems are available with roll along switches, radio blasters, geophones and energy sources for any kind of survey.

Marine Surveys
When combined with the Windows NT Marine Controller, the StrataView boasts cycle times of under 0.5 second, write to tape in real time - even provides on line QC features.

VSP, Tomography and Downhole Surveys
High cycle times and wide band width provide high resolution and time efficient data collection.

RX Series High Dynamic Range Configuration
The RX series instruments are the highest dynamic range and lowest distortion true 24 bit recorders made. Sigma-Delta A/D converters by Crystal Semiconductor provide 0.3 to 1.7 kHz bandwidth. The RX offers extra long record lengths, built-in line testing and real time correlation for efficient surveys.

R Series High Resolution Configuration
For those requiring ultra-high resolution and sampling, the R series system offers among the highest bandwidth in the industry - 14 kHz at 32 microsecond sampling. Unique oversampling and anti-alias filters still provide 113 dB measured dynamic range. The R series instruments offer excellent value for cost sensitive applications.

Instrument and Geophone Tests
Both the R and RX series instruments can be tested using precision oscillators. Built-in software performs daily and monthly tests suites or can be custom configured.

The RX series instruments are capable of checking cable and geophone performance.

Configurations:

All StrataView seismograph modules come with a large daylight-visible LCD screen, built-in printer, internal hard drive data storage and SCSI tape port. Data storage in SEG-2, SEG-Y and SEG-D is available. Systems can be configured as follows:

  • Stand-alone weather proof 12V portable module, 12 to 72 channels.

The StrataVisor NZ is a high-performance exploration seismic system in a compact, weatherproof chassis. The NZ can operate as a field PC, as a stand-alone seismic recorder with 3 to 64 internal channels - or expands easily to larger channel systems by connecting Geode remote distributed modules or other NZs.

StrataVisor NZ The StrataVisor NZ is a high-performance exploration seismic recorder with 3 to 48 channels in a ruggedized, weatherproof chassis. The NZ can operate either as a stand-alone instrument, connect to other StrataVisor NZs or interface with remote seismic modules (Geodes) to expand your recording capability. This flexibility lets you collect data for all applications in all environments.

The StrataVisor NZ console includes a brilliant daylight-visible color screen, waterproof keypad and built-in printer. The NZs single or dual Pentium processors running under Windows NT, allow simultaneous data collection and processing to give you answers in the field - fast.

Need more channels? Connect to other StrataVisor NZs and build systems up to 480 channels, all controlled from one keypad. Or use 3 to 24 channel external Geode modules to build a flexible distributed system. Geodes eliminate cumbersome roll boxes that make high-resolution reflection and refraction surveys difficult to undertake. We bundle industry-standard reflection and refraction PC based software with every StrataVisor NZ, at no additional charge. This adds up to a system that is unparalleled in flexibility for all seismic surveys. And the StrataVisor NZ is backed by a 1 year parts and labour warranty.

  • Multiple System: Two or more NZ chassis connected together to build an integrated system up to 480 channels.
  • Semi-Distributed: Connect external GEODE 3-24 channel modules that can be deployed on the ground near the geophones. Geodes are connected to NZ console by standard network cable.

  • VibroSeis and MiniSosie: High-speed hardware correlator operates either before or after stack for swept or pseudo-random source applications. Correlation time is independent of the number of channels.
  • Auxiliary Channels: Channels can be programmed as either AUX or DATA.
  • Line Testing: Real time full waveform noise monitor, geophone pulse test. Noise monitor helps locate shorts, discontinuities in line.

  • System Software: Full compliment of display, plotting, filtering and storage options are standard. Operates under Windows NT.
  • Data Storage: Operates with DAT, DLT, 3480, 3490, 3590, optical and hard disk storage through SCSI interface. Contact the factory for user specified media.
  • Plotters: Includes built-in 4 inch thermal printer. Drives a variety of NT compatible printers including Printrex 4, 8 and 12 inch plotters. Consult factory.
